Soo Yun was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1986. She began her artistic education at Yewon Arts Middle School and Seoul Arts High School, where she specialized in painting and drawing. She continued her studies at Ewha Womans University, majoring in Fine Art and Art History. Seeking to break free from the pressures of conservative and competitive environments, Soo Yun decided to pursue her artistic journey abroad.

In Brooklyn, New York, she lived independently for four years while earning a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Sculpture from Pratt Institute. The experience of living in the dynamic, culturally diverse environment of Brooklyn profoundly shaped her artistic vision. In 2018, Soo Yun relocated to a suburban town in New Jersey, where she continues to live and work. She contributes to the vibrant cultural landscape of the area as an asian female artist.
